New Standard in Phase Noise
Users requiring the best in phase noise and frequency stability will be happy to learn that Syntonic Microwave’s new DS-3002 pushes the performance bar in these two categories to new levels. The phase noise of this version of the microwave synthesizer is especially improved at the near-in offsets from the carrier. With improvement of upwards of 20 dBc/Hz, the low phase noise version is particularly well suited to applications such as instrumentation, carrier transmission/reception, higher order modulation signals and the like.
As shown in the photo above, the DS-3000 can be operated from a Windows PC using Syntonic’s GUI supplied with each purchase. The GUI gives full control of the synthesizer, including functions such as scan, sweep, and step. Auto-routines can be executed and the “list mode” provides for ulta-fast scans through as many as 5000 pre-loaded entries.
The frequency stability of the enhanced version (DS-3002) is also improved over the standard version. The improvement gives stability of the overall output at +/- 0.1 ppm over the -20 to +70 deg C temperature range and less than 1 ppm aging per year. The internal reference providing this stability is routed to the output connectors, at both 10 and 100 MHz, enabling users to synchronize additional and adjacent equipment to the DS-3002. This provides a fully synchronous component and system profile.
