The result is the elimination of DMSMS problems plaguing the Air Force in these critical EW and ELINT applications. The updated technologies also yield a 1000X improvement in frequency stability, vast improvement in electrical performance and an extension in the calculated field reliability of the devices.
Over the course of multiple years of qualification testing, the phase locked oscillators demonstrated successful performance under myriad environmental tests under MIL-STD-202 and MIL-STD-810, for conditions such as shock, vibration, acceleration, explosive atmosphere, salt, dust, sand, as well as performance in extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures.
Syntonic Microwave’s digitally-tuned oscillator (DTO) fits a similar profile. It has been qualified as a form-fit-function replacement for legacy items for both airborne and shipborne applications.
These new DTOs have also been designed using the latest of technologies and component parts, to provide for the total elimination of DMSMS within the supply chain for the EW and ELINT applications where they are used. Field performance and calculated time of service without failure is vastly improved using the updated techniques and more highly rated parts. Unique, sole-source components have all been eliminated from their designs, again significantly mitigating the risk of DMSMS down the road.
